1337x.to, one of the most visited torrent sites in the world, is having trouble finding recent torrents. While uploaders continue to add new content to the site, the broken search feature only shows files that were uploaded on or before April 10. So far, the site operator has yet to comment on the glitch.

1337x.to is the destination for many experienced BitTorrent users. The site has been around for fifteen years and is home to many accredited uploaders.

Over the years, 1337x has steadily scaled, building a stable and loyal user base.

With over 60 million monthly visits to its primary domain name, 1337x is currently the second most used torrent site, behind only YTS.mx, while beating The Pirate Bay. This also means that if something breaks, people notice.

1337x Trouble

1337x has had its fair share of problems over the years. The forum, for example, has been offline for years even though it is still promoted throughout the site. The same is true for the site's chat feature, which is disconnected also.

Most of the users can live with these shortcomings as they are mostly interested in finding the latest torrents. However, that also started to become a problem recently, as the 1337x's search function doesn't work as it should.

In recent days, many users have been complaining that they cannot find recent uploads. A quick inspection of the site shows that new content is still being added, exemplified by recent torrents on the "most popular" and "trending" liza.

No torrents after April 10

While they do exist, finding these recent torrents via direct searches seems to be a problem. It seems that the search function only shows torrents uploaded on or before April 10, more than two weeks ago.

TorrentFreak has contacted the operator of 1337x for comment on this issue, but we have not heard back. Previous requests for comments also went unanswered, which isn't really a surprise since the domain's MX records, which specify the mail server, are gone.

Based on the information available, the search issues appear to be purely technical in nature, probably related to a simple database issue. It is unknown if and when the problem will be fixed.

On Reddit, some people have he pointed that some 1337x mirrors can still find recent torrents. While that may be the case, none of these sites are official. They are likely to scrape the official site or use other data sources.

This is certainly not the first time 1337x has had problems. Last year, the official domain name 1337x.to stopped working completely after it expired. However, that issue was resolved fairly quickly.
