77% Of Consumers Surveyed In Middle East Own Cryptocurrency, Still Concerned Over Possible Scams: Kaspersky

As cryptocurrencies become “the new normal,” Kaspersky conducted a survey to study consumer attitudes toward their use. 77% of respondents in the Middle East currently own cryptocurrencies and 66% said they know very well how to use them. The study also found that almost half (48%) of consumers believe that cryptocurrencies are the future of shopping and would be happy to use them as an everyday payment option.

Nearly half of respondents believe crypto payments will become a common option for online purchases (48%). Additionally, the majority (91%) are comfortable making online and offline purchases with cryptocurrencies in the future.

Consumers would like to use cryptocurrency to purchase items related to their passion, such as video games (65%) and in-game purchases or upgrades (46%), but 56% would also use it to purchase gaming equipment, such as specialty keyboards.

Respondents also mentioned that they would like to use cryptocurrencies to buy clothes (45%) and food (41%).

Regarding concerns and risks related to using cryptocurrencies, 55% of respondents mentioned volatility and scams. The perceived potential vulnerability has put off some buyers, with 18% unsure how to properly protect cryptocurrencies, making them less likely to use them.

Kaspersky experts share some tips on using cryptocurrencies:

. Always check the address of a web wallet and do not follow links to an internet bank or web wallet.

. Before sending, check the recipient's address (at least check the first and last characters), the amount being sent, and the associated fee amount.

. Write a mnemonic phrase that will allow you to recover a crypto wallet if you lose it or forget your password.

. Stay calm and make informed decisions when investing in cryptocurrencies; Don't rush or panic.

. Always remember that investing in cryptocurrencies is very risky. Do not invest more than you are willing to lose at any time. Experts will always advise diversifying your investments.

. Use proven cryptocurrency hardware wallets.

. Run high-quality antivirus protection to protect the devices you use to access crypto wallets and trade on crypto exchanges.
