Sekiro Dubi posted a video on Youtube revealing the discovery of a different opening than Elden Ring, present in an old version of the game. The never-before-seen scene features Melina and Torrent. Normally, players begin the game in the Chapel of Anticipation, which inevitably leads to their demise, with Elden Ring beginning appropriately with the resurrection. However, Dubi discovered that instead of starting the main game in The Stranded Graveyard and progressing through the Cave of Knowledge, the game had players start on a beach in West Limgrave. The discovery implies that the players landed in the sea and were washed up on West Limgrave beach after meeting their end at the Chapel of Anticipation.

Dubi's effort is testament to the fact that Elden Ring remains top of mind for many gamers and fans, who are now eagerly awaiting the long-awaited sequel that will take place in a completely new land. He Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Director Hidetaka Miyazaki recently spoke about the setting of the upcoming game: "First of all, the setting of Shadow of the Erdtree is a completely new land. It's a completely new map, separate from Lands Between," he said. The director added: "In terms of setting and themes, it technically occupies the same space as Lands Between, the same universe. But due to something related to the story that we will not reveal today, this has been physically disconnected and I will travel to the land of the Erdtree Shadow as a separate place."
