A new exploit has been discovered for elden ring which allows hosts to farm runes and annoy other players, so much so that people ask FromSoftware to patch the game to fix it.
The exploit surrounds the invasion and player versus player (PvP) mechanics, and uses various elements that can summon unsuspecting players into the host game.
The main method being used is to use the multiplayer items Furcalling Finger Remedy and Taunter's Tongue, which draw invaders into the host game. However, when the invader joins the game, he will not be able to reach the host because the exploit involves using the mount, Torrent, to hide in a place that cannot be reached on foot.
After this, some hosts are even using the White Cipher Ring which summons hunters to fight on their behalf, causing the invader to die to the summoned character, give up because they can't find the host, or die while try to reach the host. All of these results cause the host to get runes for doing almost nothing.
Runes are an important element in elden ring which are used to level up, and although you can find them in the world or buy them from some merchants, doing this method while completely away from your game is very easy and takes advantage of the fact that some areas cannot be reached in multiplayer as you can Do not use Torrent in a multiplayer game.

Twitter user rkirby808 (Thanks, Kotaku) shows this in action and asks for a patch, as they are concerned that "the longer it lasts, the less it will care about justice".
It is a difficult situation as some elden ring Players don't like invasion mechanics and may even see this as a way to get their comeuppance, but this form of multiplayer has always been a part of FromSoftware titles, so it's not certain this will be fixed.
