After Warner countered Afridi's equally powerful deliveries with his trademark aggression, the duo ended the third day of the match with a showdown. However, the duo soon burst into laughter.
After Pakistan collapsed from 214-2 to 268 in their opening innings on day three, Australia had three overs to go before the day's close and starters Warner and Usman Khawaja managed to do just that. As Warner successfully played a delivery of Afridi, the bowler stepped forward to look at Warner. The Australian star also looked back at him, and the height difference added a comedic tone to the moment. The two ended their downward gaze with a giggle.
When the clip went viral showing them as rivals on the field, Warner later posted a candid photo on Instagram of the two embracing. Something similar happened the next day when they were caught laughing on camera and shaking hands.
However, the moment stuck with fans. Many compared the moment to the Aashiqui 2 poster, claiming that the moment exudes "romantic vibes". As the video inspired others to edit it with romantic sound scores, many claimed that it was "all the desi couples during the wedding photo shoot".
