In response to the unexpected attack by Hamas militants against Israel, the austrian government declared on Monday that it would suspend development aid to the Palestinian regions.
Israel, stunned by the unprecedented attack on its territory, has recorded more than 700 deaths and launched a torrent of airstrikes on Gaza that have caused more than 430 deaths there.
Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg told public radio Oe1: "We will temporarily stop all development aid payments."
He said the decision will impact $20 million in aid.
Furthermore, Schallenberg stated that Austria would evaluate any initiative involving the Palestinian territories and would collaborate with the European Union and its allies.
โThe scale of the terror is so horrendous. It is such a fracture that you cannot return to normal,โhe added.
