Back to school splash is a smash

The city of Goose of Creek continues to find to new and inventive ways to get the community more in involved with the city, the first annual Back to School Splash was held on Aug. 12, and it probably wonโ€™t be the last.

From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. as the heat index approached the upper 90โ€™s, kids and adults gathered in front of the fire department headquarters at 201 Button Hall Avenue. Those in attendance got to experience a unique way to cool down.

One of the cityโ€™s giant pumper trucks blasted water from a large nozzle on top of the vehicle. The constant gush of cooling water poured onto those below. As water rained down both kids and adults frolicked in deluge from above.

Some did not want to get as soaked and stood on the side of the main event as a cooling mist from the giant cascade spread across the large field in front of headquarters.

The city has other events planned in the coming months including an outdoor movie night, Goose Creek appreciation day at the Charleston Southern University and the Fall Festival on Oct. 7, on grounds at City Hall.
