Cedar Rapids Man Sentenced to Prison for Child Pornography Charge

DAVENPORT, Iowa - A Cedar Rapids man, Matthew Patrick Langenberg, was sentenced on December 23, 2021 by Chief Judge of the United States District Court, John A. Jarvey, to 60 months in prison for receiving child pornography. Langenberg was ordered to serve five years of supervised release to continue his prison sentence and pay $ 100 to the Crime Victims Fund.

Langenberg, 52, was identified by police after an iPhone associated with him was turned over to the Coralville Police Department following the discovery of child pornography on the device. The Johnson County Sheriff's Office conducted a forensic examination of the device and located 56 images showing child pornography and one video showing anime child pornography. Langenberg also used Bit Torrent software to obtain child pornography and used web searches consistent with child pornography. Langenberg pleaded guilty to the charge on August 24, 2021.

US Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa made the announcement. The Coralville Police Department investigated the case.
