Crypto Price Today: Bitcoin surpasses $44,000 on ETF trigger; Solana, BNB gain up to 17%

Bitcoin crossed the $44,000 mark following crucial discussions over Bitcoin ETFs between BlackRock, Nasdaq and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).


Commenting on the development, Shivam Thakral, CEO of BuyUcoin, said that overall crypto market The cap rose to $1.66 trillion and Bitcoin touched the $44,000 mark just before Christmas. He said the crucial meeting between Blackrock, Nasdaq and the SEC over the Bitcoin ETF sent strong positive signals.

Meanwhile, Solana is leading the altcoin rally with an increase of over 16% in 24 hours. As we enter the last week of 2023, the cryptocurrency market is gaining more strength to maintain the momentum until 2024, BuyUcoin expert opined.

โ€œDemonstrating a 16% gain this month and an impressive 165% year-to-date increase, the market is buoyed by Argentina's formal adoption of Bitcoin as its official currency,โ€ said Edul Patel, CEO of Mudrex.

Patel is positive about the cryptocurrency market, noting that El Salvador passed a law offering citizenship to foreign Bitcoin investors. In his opinion, this bodes well for this crypto asset.

Coming to the technicals, Patel said that BTC finds resistance at $44,300 and support at $43,500. The prevailing optimism in the market suggests that if the current momentum persists, Bitcoin could soon reach the $48,000 level, he added.

Parth Chaturvedi, investment leader at CoinSwitch Ventures, sees narratives including the long-awaited approval of the Spot BTC ETF helping Bitcoin's cause and maintaining investor confidence.

Relying on current market trends, he also expects low volatility for BTC in the coming days.

In the altcoin universe, Solana is attracting the attention of investors. Backing this development, Chaturvedi said: โ€œShortly after overtaking XRP to become the fifth-largest cryptocurrency, SOL (+18.6%) has now surpassed BNB to become the worldโ€™s fourth-largest cryptocurrency.โ€

SOL, which is currently trading around $93.9, started the year at around $9.96 and has grown over 840% in 2023.
