Crypto Prices Today: Bitcoin Rises, Ether, Solana, and Other Coins Fall
By Nidhi Bhardwaj: The main cryptocurrencies traded mixed on January 17. The value of Bitcoin stood at $21,121.14, up almost 0.05 percent in the last 24 hours. For weeks, the Bitcoin price traded below the $19,000 mark before the recent rally. Amid the growing market, there has also been a significant increase in prices in other currencies. This momentum led to a positive change in the total volume of the crypto market by 5 percent to $50.17 billion. However, the global crypto market capitalization fell 0.02 percent over the past day to $987.08 billion.
At the time of writing this article (1000 IST), the value of Ethereum, similar to Bitcoin, saw an increase in value after a few weeks. But yesterday, the market was mixed, leading to a decline in the value of Ethereum by 0.56 percent to $1,561.72. Cardano price also posted a loss of 2.90 percent to $0.347852. Similarly, Solana also fell 0.59 percent to $23.19.
The value of other coins like XRP also posted lows of 4.39 percent at $0.384598, along with a decline in Monero's value of 4.27 percent at $167.80. Following this drop, the value of Dash fell 5.66 percent to $48.97. At the same time, the Avalanche continued to generate gains of 0.44 percent to trade at $16.96.
According to CoinMarketCap, the top gainers today were Decentraland, Cronos, Curve DAO Token, and The Sandbox. On the other hand, Celo, Near Protocol, Zcash and Dash were the main losers.

With the previous day's decline in major cryptocurrencies, the value of Shiba Inu and Dogecoin were down 1.67% to $0.000011 and 3.03% to $0.083899, respectively.
Decetraland and The Sandbox trade in green
Decentraland remained in the green by 8 percent since yesterday, to trade at $0.748726. Similarly, The Sandbox price also gained 5.11 percent to $0.747438. Axie Infinity noted a 3 percent drop in value to $9.08.
