Cryptocurrency regulation is under discussion with G20 nations: FM Nirmala Sitharaman

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Feb. 11 that crypto is 99 percent technology. She is "in discussion with the G20 nations" whether all countries can achieve a standard operating procedure that is effective while following a regulatory framework, she added. Addressing a press briefing, the Finance Minister said: “If there has to be regulation, then a different country alone can't do anything. We are talking to all the countries about whether we will be able to do some standard operating procedure. So if everyone goes down that path and we create a regulatory framework, can we still be effective? This is all a matter under discussion. Discussions on this issue with the G20 countries are ongoing."
