Cyber crime: 2 Cuttack engineers lose Rs 43 lakh in cryptocurrency fraud

In a new cryptocurrency investment fraud case, scammers allegedly duped two engineers at Cuttack out of a sum of Rs 43 lakh. According to initial reports, the two engineers from the Purighat and CDA areas lost money by investing through a fake website.

The victims have now filed a complaint regarding the fraud at the cyber police station. The sources said that the victims had initially received a message on their WhatsApp. They were first added to a group and given some tasks to perform.

Initially, they received money immediately after completing the assigned task. The two engineers are alleged to have been promised 30 percent of the tasks performed. However, they had to deposit money first to get a good return on their investment.

The scammers have looted around Rs 20 lakh from one engineer and Rs 23 lakh from the other under such pretext.
