Deluge in Italy sets European record

A whopping 7.1 inches fell in just one hour in Vicomorasso, about 16 miles east of Rossiglione, according to FloodList, a website that aggregates information on flood events around the world. That's the highest rainfall recorded in an hour in Italy, FloodList wrote. In comparison, it is more than double 3.15 inches that fell during the record-setting hour-long storm that overwhelmed New York City on Sept. 1 as the debris of Hurricane Ida passed.
