Dog trapped at the bottom of gorge rescued by firefighters

After a dog was reported trapped in a ravine on Torrent Walk in Brithdir, near Dolgellau, rescue services were deployed to help the stranded animal.

The call was made at approximately 4pm on Monday, June 10, when the North Wales Fire Service deployed a Dolgellau fire engine to attend the incident.

Since the dog was reported to be in the water at the bottom of a 60-foot drop, it was thought that water rescue and rope rescue equipment would be needed. As a result, North Wales Fire and Rescue also sent a small boat.

Shortly after 4.30pm, a request for help accessing the dog was made to the Aberfydi Mountain Search and Rescue Team.

But as their volunteers headed towards the scene of the incident, news came that firefighters had managed to reach the animal and the equipment was removed.

As the water was initially shallower, the boat was not needed for the rescue.

The North Wales Fire Service used a rope and anchor to pull the dog out of the gorge and successfully rescue it.
