E-bidding for new IPL teams planned on October 17

The BCCI plans to have an electronic tender for the two new IPL equipment on October 17 and offers to buy the sides can be made until October 5.

"The Board is planning to have the tender on October 17 and it will be an electronic tender," sources familiar with the matter told PTI.

On August 31, the BCCI invited bids to own an IPL franchise with "Invitation to Bid" available for purchase until October 5.

'' The Governing Council of the IPL calls a tender to acquire the right of ownership and exploitation of 1 (one) of the 2 (two) new equipment that it intends to introduce to participate in the Indian Premier League since the IPL 2022 season, through a bidding process, '' the BCCI had said in a statement.

'' Any interested party wishing to bid must purchase the ITT. '' However, only those who meet the eligibility criteria established in the ITT and subject to the other terms and conditions established therein, will be eligible to bid. It is clarified that the mere purchase of this ITT does not entitle any person to bid, '' the cricket body had said.

Among the venues where the teams could be located are Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Pune.

The Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad and the Ekana stadium in Lucknow, with greater capacities, it could be the option for franchises.

Some of the trading houses that make the rounds include the Adani group, RPG Sanjeev Goenka group, leading pharmaceutical company Torrent and a prominent banker who has shown an active interest in purchasing equipment.
