Édaein O’Connell: Embrace your culchie accent before it disappears for good

I wonder if there's a connection between the Two Johnnies' accent and the near-constant stream of criticism they receive. Photo: Gerry Mooney

I currently live with a friend from London. She calls her town "Landan" and says things like "It's okay, buddy." I love her accent and love nothing more than hearing her attempt to pronounce Irish names and places.

The other day he called Busáras “The buses are us” and started calling Finglas “Fin Glaws”. Instead of Youghal, he says "You Gal" and anyone named Áine is "Enya".
