The Supreme Committee for the Flow of the Nile, chaired by the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Aty, reviewed the water situation in the country and the water management mechanisms to meet the demand of different sectors.
During Wednesday's meeting, Abdel Aty discussed the means to achieve the optimal use of our water resources during the period of maximum water consumption, in order to provide farmers with the necessary water in the agricultural season.
The minister also stated that the ministry agencies are monitoring the rainfall rates in the river upstream of the Nile, the hydrological status of the river and determining the amounts of water reaching the lake from the Aswan High Dam.
He signaled the start of phasing out water removal from September to meet water needs during the fall season.
In addition, Abdel Aty affirmed that the commission is in permanent session to monitor the water situation, which allows the ministry's agencies to deal dynamically with the management of the water system with the highest degree of efficiency.
Interestingly, Abdel Aty highlighted the need to monitor all forms of encroachments on the Nile River, canals and drains, with an immediate and decisive response to such encroachments and eliminating them in coordination with the concerned state agencies.
Flood forecasts were also discussed at the committee meeting, as the data indicated increased rainfall in the upper Nile River and promising indications regarding this year's flood level.
He also highlighted the need to continue lifting the state of emergency in all departments of the ministry in the governorates to monitor water levels in canals and drains, and to ensure the preparation of the bridge sectors to face any emergency, and the available to all. stations, power lines and emergency units.
Abdel Aty directed the continuous traffic and monitoring of the protection facilities from the dangers of torrential rains and ensure their availability to receive rain, in order to protect citizens, cities, towns, strategic facilities, roads, towers, lines electric and gas lines. from the dangers of torrents.
