ORIGINAL STORY 12:10 pm UK: Earlier this week we reported that Elden Ring was completed in just two and a half hours. Two days later and that has already been significantly surpassed.

Streamer LilAggy has managed to complete the game in less than an hour.

"The first person in the world to complete Elden Ring in under an hour," he tweeted, smiling at his time of 59 minutes and 38 seconds.

A video of his run can be found on YouTube. Of course, don't watch it if you want to avoid spoilers.

So how does he do it? We'll keep things vague, but there are a couple of tricks.

At first, it is transported to Volcano Manor thanks to the attack of a specific enemy; this is an intended mechanic. What FromSoftware doesn't intend is for LilAggy to force the game to spawn her character in certain places after she dies, blatantly jumping into late-game areas.

LilAggy chooses to play as the Samurai class, as the starting katana has decent bleed damage that can be used to take down bosses. She also uses the Icerind Hatchet ability which doesn't scale with your stats unlike normal attacks, meaning she can focus on leveling up on health and FP.

In a comment on the YouTube video, LilAggy also explains how time is calculated, something that may change in the future.

"This run is timed using In Game Time (IGT). The on-screen timer shows the exact IGT directly from the game's memory; it's the same number you'd see on the game loading screen from the main menu," he says.

"The speedrun leaderboard rules have yet to be officially decided, so IGT may not be the timing method that ends up being used in future races (we may opt for real-time minus loading screens, aka timing' RTA No Load'). Going by RTA No Load Time, this run is a minute or two away from being a sub-hour run."

Also, consider that a race of less than 50 minutes is entirely possible with fewer deaths.
