Elden Ring has a long-awaited expansion coming at some point, and while it's presumably been in development for a while, it's apparently no closer to coming out. There's still no release date for Shadow of the Erdtree and the likelihood of such an announcement only increases with each passing day, but in the meantime there's a lot to speculate about what it might look like and what it might contribute. Of course, players once again have the option of engaging in these battles while dismounted or not, but it offers at least some variety in how to approach bosses and enemies in the open world.

Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree should debut at Mount Cosmetics

Shadow of the Erdtree now has a chance to spread FromSoftware 'fashion souls' equipment customization catalog to Torrent. Such equipment may not have stats in the same way as ordinary clothing in Soulslikes and expecting mount equipment to have story-related descriptions would probably be a big ask, but seeing alternative skins for Torrent would be awesome regardless.

This kind of pop-up debut is unlikely if it weren't significant, although if mounts are going to become more common in future FromSoftware games, it would be nice to see decorative styles for the mounts they can be styled with.

Even if these cosmetics were repurposed versions of the gear that players purchase for their avatar, they could at least give players the option to have their mount look as awesome as they do. Shadow of the Erdtree will almost certainly pick up Torrent or some variation of the mount if it features an open world, and depending on what is added or omitted for the mount in this expansion may determine whether FromSoftware cares about mount customization and other related or unrelated characteristics.

At this point, such customization would not be necessary. Either way, you could add a fun layer that is based on Creativity and personalization established as 'souls of fashion' of Soulslikesespecially if mount cosmetics could be obtained from fallen enemies that also fought on their own steeds and represented the aesthetics of those mounts.
