Elderly woman gets torrent of abuse on day of chaos at Foremark Reservoir

An elderly woman who lived near the Foremark Reservoir received a torrent of insults when she asked a group of men not to block her path.

Shocking behavior happened nearby Foremark Deposit during a hot weather weekend that caused the place to fill to capacity at 3.30pm, when the doors were closed.

Despite the parking lot being full and warnings that they could face fines, at least 30 motorists parked their cars along the margins of the grass at 60 mph Repton Road.

Swadlincote officials said they had a smooth weekend until 4pm yesterday, July 18.

A spokesperson said: "At around 3.30pm, with Foremark full, the doors were closed to the public. The public still tried to enter their vehicles but were denied.

"Thirty drivers decided to park on the edge of the grass on Repton Road and caused chaos. Drivers also blocked several roads from local residents, and an elderly woman received a lot of verbal abuse for challenging a group of men who had blocked her Not only if the parking lot was dangerous, the drivers decided to walk on the roads to get to Foremark because their parking lot did not allow them to walk on the grass.

"They not only put their own lives and their children at risk, but they caused other road users to take evasive measures to avoid a serious accident."

Police were shocked to hear the excuses when the drivers returned to their vehicles and saw that they were being fined ยฃ 100 and three points on their licenses.

Some of the excuses the police heard:

"Where else are we supposed to park?" Answer "Not in front of solid white lines and on the edge of the grass, the site is closed."

"Am I not the only one who parked here?" Respond "No, you are not, that's why everyone is getting a ticket."

"Do not you have anything better to do?". Answer "Not when we were trying to save lives and protect local residents from abuse and antisocial behavior."

"Can you help me because of the hot weather my car is stuck on the edge of the grass?" Answer "Fine, fine, points and the cost of recovery."

The best line was for the dangerous parking lot "Oh, it looks worse than it is." Answer "Yes, you have two flashy tires and you could kill someone parked like that." Driver was reported for citation.

One driver even tried to jokingly offer a policeman ยฃ 10 to avoid a fine.
