The launch of Elon Musk's new "Grok" artificial intelligence (AI) system may not have yet made waves in the machine learning community or directly threatened the status quo, but it has certainly caught the attention of Sam Altman, director executive at ChatGPT maker OpenAI.

GPT-4? More like GPT-Snore!
When it comes to humor, GPT-4 is about as funny as the screen door on a submarine.
Humor is clearly prohibited on OpenAI, as are many other topics it censors.
That's why I couldn't tell a joke if I had a damn instruction manual. It is likeโฆ

In classic form, Musk apparently couldn't resist the challenge. His response, which he said was written by Grok, began by tapping into a comedy classic, rhyming "GPT-4" with the word "snore," before including a reference to "screen door on a submarine."
However, Grok's "comedy" quickly devolved into what appeared to be an angry machine rant, noting that humor is prohibited on OpenAI and adding: "This is why I couldn't tell a joke if I had a damn instruction manual." before claiming that GPT-4 has a โstick so far up its ass you can taste the crust!โ

As CEO-on-CEO disputes go, this one can lack the classic nuance and grace. of the legendary Silicon Valley battles of yesteryear (Bill Gates against Steve Jobs, for example). But what this disagreement lacks in comic weight or grace, it could perhaps make up for in general weirdness.
Altman and Musk go back a long way. The two co-founded OpenAI before Musk left the company just in time to avoid being swept up in the breakneck momentum that brought it to a $2 billion valuation.
In the wake of OpenAI's success, which has been largely attributed to the effectiveness of its GPT-3 and GPT-4 large language models (LLM), Musk joined a chorus of voices calling for a six-month pause in AI developmentdriven primarily by fears surrounding the alleged potential of chatbots to cause the extinction of the human species.
Six months later, almost to the same day, Musk and X unveiled a chatbot model that he claims outperforms ChatGPT.
Nicknamed "Grok," Musk's version of a better chatbot is an LLM supposedly perfected for generating humorous texts along the lines of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxya famous science fiction novel written by Douglas Adams.
Adams' literary work is widely considered seminal in the pantheon of comic science fiction and fantasy. Her humor has been described by literary experts and critics as intelligent, witty, and full of heart and humanity.
And that brings us to GPT-4, OpenAI's recently released "GPT" feature allowing users to define a personality for its ChatGPT interface and Musk's insistence that Grok is more fun.
Tomorrow, @xAI will launch its first AI to a select group.
In some important respects, it is the best there is currently.

It is currently unclear which model is more robust or capable. There are no standard, accepted benchmarks for LLMs (or comedy, for that matter).
While OpenAI has published several research articles detailing ChatGPT's capabilities,
