Father-son duo electrocuted to death in UP

A man and his son were electrocuted to death after they came into contact with a power line while parking their vehicle in the Rajpur Chungi town of Agra, police said on Saturday.

According to police, Mohar Singh, 50, and his son Bhupendra, 22, were parking their auto-rickshaw outside their home when they came into contact with the broken wire of a street light pole on Friday.

Singh's wife and daughter rushed to save them, but were rescued by locals, said the deputy inspector of the Sadar police station, Mohammad Naseer said.

The father and son duo were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead, he said.

Meanwhile, Shailesh Desai, Vice President of Torrent Power issued a statement after the tragic incident and claimed that the incident occurred due to the breakage of the power cable from the streetlight pole.

โ€œIt has nothing to do with Torrent Power. The poles and wires of the public lighting are maintained by the municipal corporation, โ€he said.
