Fire at Makarba electricity substation | Ahmedabad News

Ahmedabad: A fire broke out at the Torrent Power substation in Makarba on Tuesday night.
It was controlled in about half an hour. Nobody was hurt in the incident.
Inayat Shaikh, a fire officer for the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) Southwest Division, said they received a call around 6.15pm regarding the fire at the power substation.
โ€œThe fire had occurred in the high voltage transformer. In five minutes, six dry powder cart-mounted fire extinguishers were deployed and it took us about 30 minutes to control the fire, โ€Shaikh said. He added that firefighters left the scene only after the fire was extinguished and the affected transformers were tested.
A Torrent statement said the fire had occurred on the new 132kV Pirana-Prahladnagar line in the distribution yard of the Prahladnagar (Makarba) substation.
"There was no power interruption for consumers as we diverted the power supply to another line while the fire was being put out," said a company spokesman.
