Mostafa Mohamed's Galatasaray have appointed Spanish coach Domènec Torrent as the replacement for club icon Fatih Terim.
After a horrendous start to the season, which saw them drop out of the Turkish Cup and sit 12th in the Turkish Super Lig table, Galatasaray parted ways with legendary manager Fatih Terim.
Terim's second stint as Galatasaray manager got off to a great start as he was able to win two league titles, the Turkish Cup and the Turkish Super Cup since taking over in 2017.
However, this season saw a drastic drop in form for Blood an Gold, who have so far only been able to win seven league games from 20 games, prompting the club's board to replace the 68-year-old with Domènec Torrent from Spain.
Torrent began his coaching career in 1991 and was in charge of six different teams, including Girona, until in 2007 he became Pep Guardiola's second coach at FC Barcelona B.
Torrent remained with Guardiola during his adventures in Europe with Barcelona's first team, Bayern Munich and, most recently, Manchester City.
After two years in the Premier League, the 59-year-old decided to take on his own challenge and signed for MLS side New York City FC in 2018. He only lasted one season, before moving to Brazil with Flamengo in 2020, where he was. fired 10 weeks later.
Torrent will now try to get Galatasaray out of their doldrums and return to their natural position at the top of the table.
He will train Egyptian international striker Mostafa Mohamed, who saw his playing time with Terim decrease significantly and it remains to be seen whether or not the Spaniard will feature him.

Mohamed was limited to just 11 starts this season in all competitions, with his remaining 18 appearances coming off the bench.
