"The people who triggered them were in small groups and others were in quite large groups. You couldn't really tell who was with who because everyone was spread out.

"Some of them landed near me. They didn't hurt at all, but they were definitely scary to see."

A police spokesman said: "We detained a number of people and then stopped two nearby cars suspected of being involved in the disorder. "Inside one vehicle we recovered a knife and the other a fireworks.

"We have now charged Sheryar Khan, 21, Iqram Khan, 22, and Zain Mahmood, 24, with causing a public nuisance and possession of an offensive weapon.

"We have also charged George Dandison, Ulrich Angwe and Ajay Penfold, all aged 19, with disorderly conduct. They were remanded to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court today (November 2).

"Three other people have been released on bail while our investigations continue.

โ€œThankfully no one was seriously injured during the disorder and we will continue to have a visible officer presence in and around the area over the coming days.

"We will not tolerate behavior that puts others at risk of harm; the safety of everyone in our communities is paramount."
