Gate.io experiences slowdown in deposits and withdrawals due to node maintenance

Users of the Gate.io crypto exchange are facing slow deposits and withdrawals in transactions due to the maintenance of a node by a third-party cloud provider. according to to an announcement on December 18.

Gate.io said that the transactions are still being processed and stated that user funds are safe. The company stated:

"Right now, we are monitoring the status of our cloud service providers' network connection and will speed up deposits and withdrawals as soon as network connection is restored."

It is unclear if the transaction delay is related to the OKX outage, which was caused by a hardware failure in a Hong Kong data center of its main infrastructure provider, Alibaba Cloud. As Cointelegraph reported, Alibaba's cloud server went offline on Dec. 17 and could not recover for more than fifteen hours, during which users were unable to withdraw or deposit funds.

Although OKX trading services resumed several hours later, Gate.io users on Twitter are still having issues with transactions.

Alibaba's cloud services were discontinued a few days after the company Announced was developing its first Blockchain Node Service. Scheduled for launch in the first quarter of 2023, the service aims to make it easier for organizations to build blockchain applications.

According to Alibaba, the new platform-as-a-service solution will help developers by reducing maintenance and operational time. The company claimed that its infrastructure will allow node hosts to actively monitor nodes and automatically switch over in the event of an outage. "As it requires no hands-on supervision or problem mitigation, developers are free to focus on product development and thus speed up the pace of the product release process," Alibaba said.

Alibaba Cloud is the digital technology backbone of Alibaba Group. Earlier this month, Avalanche blockchain partnered with Alibaba Cloud's Node-as-a-Service initiative, Cointelegraph reported.
