Heavy rain, sandstorm, and snowfall to hit most Saudi regions until end of Ramadan

JEDDAH โ€” Moderate to heavy rain, sandstorms and snowfall are expected in most regions of Saudi Arabia from Sunday through the end of the holy month of Ramadan, according to the forecast by the National Center for Meteorology (NCM).

Spring storms, accompanied by dust storms, torrents and snowfall, will be heavy from Monday to Thursday in the Qassim, Riyadh, Eastern Province and Hail regions.

The NCM said in a statement that moderate to heavy rains will be recorded in the regions of Asir, Al-Baha, Jazan, Makkah, Najran and Medina on Sunday and Monday, as well as Wednesday and Thursday.

Moderate to strong thunderstorms will be experienced in the Tabuk, Al-Jouf and Northern Border Region regions from Monday to Wednesday. The center said light to moderate thunderstorms, accompanied by sandstorms, are expected in the Eastern Province from Monday to Thursday, and in the Makkah, Tabuk and Medina regions on Sunday and Monday, as well as Wednesday.

Preliminary forecasts indicate that the chances of rain will continue in most regions until the middle of next week. The NCM urged the public to follow up on its website and social media accounts for more information on the expected weather situation and the regions affected by it. He also urged them to strictly comply with the instructions given by the competent authorities.
