Poetic justice, so to speak, but Kapil Dev and his men have been paid a hefty sum for giving the go-ahead to make a movie of their winning World Cup campaign. Team Captain, Kapil Dev has reportedly been paid โน 5 crore for the film and the rest of the team receives โน 10 crore for the film. While the Indian team received โน 2,100 for the 1983 final, it emerged that for the rest of the matches the team only received โน 1,500 as a match fee and โน 600 as a daily allowance. It was only after the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar organized a concert for the World Cup winning team, that the players gained some kind of financial benefit to become World Champions.
