On February 19, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Uttar Pradesh (UP). During the visit he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various development projects.

ii.He laid the foundation stone of the Shri Kalki Dham temple at Sambhal.

III.He also laid the first stone of 4 energy projects developed by Torrent Power in UP

PM Modi launched 14,000 projects worth Rs 10 lakh crore in UP

On February 19, 2024, Prime Minister Modi launched 14,000 projects worth more than 10 lakh rupees crore in Uttar Pradesh (UP) at the fourth inauguration ceremony (GBC 4.0) of UP Global Investor Summit 2023 (UPGIS 2023) in Lucknow, UP.

  • Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister (CM) of UP; UP Governor Anandiben Patel and Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Ministry of Defence, were present during the event.

Project details:

The 14,000 projects in UP are related to sectors such as manufacturing, renewable energy, IT (information technology) and ITeS (IT-enabled services), food processing, housing and real estate, hospitality and entertainment, and education, among others.

GBC 4.0 Highlights:

Yo.Prime Minister Modi toured the exhibition held on the sidelines of GBC 4.0 to showcase the progress of major development projects in various sectors of UP.

ii.PM visited the ALT Swantex textile pavilion and examined presentations on garments and leather techniques, gaining an understanding of UP's advancements in these sectors.

III.He also explored the growing artificial intelligence (AI) landscape in the country and the ETH AI center in UP. The expo showcased advances in robotics, including industrial robotic arms and droid robotics.

IV.At the defense sector pavilion, the prime minister was briefed on the progress of UP through replicas of defense equipment and a functional prototype of advanced bulletproof military vehicles.

vThe exhibition also showcased UP's progress in tourism, clean energy and infrastructure, including 3D models of the Shri Ram Temple and the entrance to the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor.

Additional Information

Yo.The UP government recently inaugurated South Asia's largest ammunition facility in the Uttar Pradesh Defense Corridor, capable of producing 400 rounds per minute (small caliber) and will be built on 100 acres of land.

  • The plant will produce medium and large caliber ammunition and will run entirely on green energy, ensuring environmentally sustainable operations.

ii.The UP government will set up AI centers in Lucknow and Noida. It will be built at Gautam Buddha University in Greno, UP.

  • The centers will provide AI solutions and promote awareness about AI in sectors such as agriculture, education and healthcare.
  • It will focus on developing technological solutions and promoting artificial intelligence training programs for government officials and employees.

Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone of Shri Kalki Dham temple in sambhal

Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone and unveiled the model of Shri Kalki Dham temple in Sambhal district, UP.

  • The temple is being built by Shri Kalki Dham Nirman Foundation under the leadership of Acharya Pramod Krishnam.

Yo.The temple will have 10 rough grihas for the 10 avatars of Lord Vishnu.

ii.Kalki Dham will be a place dedicated to the tenth Avatar of Lord Vishnu (Kalki), who is yet to incarnate.

PM Modi laid foundation stone for four power projects in UP

Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone of four projects being developed by Torrent Power in UP with an investment of approx. 25,000 crores.

  • These four plants are expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for approximately 8,000 people.

Key points:

Yo.The projects include two pumped storage hydroelectric projects in Sonbhadra districtwith a total capacity of 4,150 megawatts

ii.TO 150 megawatts Solar power plant in Lalitpur district (Bundelkhkand region in UP)

III.A pilot green hydrogen production facility will be established in Gorakhpur, where green hydrogen will be produced and combined with the gas distribution network being built by Torrent Gas.
