john abraham who turns 50 today has come a long way. Today, he can make projects happen the way he wants.
There was a time when this outsider in Bollywood with no connections in the film industry was knocking on all doors looking for a break. One of those producers and directors was anubhav sinha. This was in 2001 when Anubhav was planning his first directorial venture. Paper bin. The foursquare love story was planned with newcomers.
Naturally, there was a constant stream of auditions. One of the hopefuls who knocked on Anubhav's door was a Kerala boy named John Abraham who seemed "almost desperate" for a chance.
But even before John could audition for Paper bin, was rejected. The reason is his complete unfamiliarity with the Hindi language.
โHow can you be a part of Hindi cinema without knowing Hindi?โ Anubhav kicked John out of the audition.
John took up the challenge of learning Hindi from scratch. He today he speaks the language much better than many superstars.
Another obstacle John initially faced was his name. Many advised him to adopt a screen name as 'John Abraham' didn't sound right for Bollywood.
There are two Bollywood directors who completely believed in John all along. One was Deepa Mehta, who cast John as a Dhoti-clad reformist inspired by Raja Ram Mohan Roy in Water. Everyone thought Deepa had gone crazy. But she believed that John was the right one since her mother also believed the same. After the water, John Abraham was director Deepa Mehta's blue-eyed boy.
The Toronto-based director had signed John on for a mainstream Hollywood film. Moon.
Deepa said: โAfter working with John, I realized what a wonderful human being he is. He just brings so much positive energy to the location. And he is so willing to learn and participate. If he gets my way and he fits in, I'll put him in all my movies."
John was her first and last choice for Luna. Warner Brothers gave Deepa a ready script by David Ward. Both John and Deepa were excited about Luna. She turned to her favorite subject, the environment. From the beginning, Deepa was a child of nature. The water had a very strong ecological element. Their mutual love of nature bonded Deepa with John. And, of course, the fact that her mother adores him just ends all discussion.
Unfortunately, Luna was never made. Y nishikant kamat whoever could bring out the best in John has passed away. Since then, John has been wrestling with a series of over-the-top patriotic squats in which he simply has to rip his shirt off at the end to prove that the patriotic genre doesn't belong. akshay kumar only.
Nishikant Kamat was a director who understood John's physical as well as his emotional strengths. In handsome rocky, Kamat used both qualities to create a man teetering on the brink of self-destruction. I can't remember the last time John did something as impressive as rocky handsome.
