How to Get Ability Patch in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

If trainers are looking to unlock the unique hidden ability of one of their Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, they will need an ability patch.

The skill patch is an item in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet that can be given to a Trainer's pocket monster to change its current Ability to its Hidden Ability. For example, Trainers can evolve Quaxly into Quaxwell and Quaquaval, after which Fighting- and Water-type Dancing Pokémon can learn Torrent. This ability is great for powering up Quaquaval's Water-type attacks when the Pokemon is low on HP. However, Quaquaval's Moxie Hidden Ability is certainly a much better option, as it temporarily boosts the Dancing Pokémon's Attack by one level each time it KOes another pocket monster. Therefore, to turn Torrent into Moxie for Quaquaval, trainers will need a skill patch.

To get a skill patch in Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers must participate in 6-star Tera raids. This high level Raiding activity only becomes accessible once Trainers have completed the game's three main stories and entered the post game.

After defeating all the Gym Leaders again and participating in the Academy Ace Tournament in the Orange or Grape Academy, players will receive a phone call from Professor Jacq, who will encourage them to find and clear 5-star Tera raids in Paldea.
