Internet Computer will be a key alternative to AWS-like services โ€“ Dfinity exec

The Web 3.0 ecosystem is based on the principles of decentralization, however, most aspects of the ecosystems are quite centralized. whether it's metaverse servers, or non-fungible tokens (NFTs)even several blockchain ecosystems are completely based on centralized servers like Amazon.

Therefore, these ecosystems face several vulnerabilities that accompany centralization. However, Dominic Williams, founder of Dfinity, believes that the Internet Computer can change that forever.

In a conversation with Cointelegraph journalist Zhiyuan Sun during the Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC), Williams explained that with the use of smart contracts, Internet computers will eliminate any human backdoors, making the next generation of computers of the Internet (ICP) is truly autonomous and decentralized.

ICP is a suite of protocols that allow independent data centers around the world to come together and offer a decentralized alternative to today's centralized Internet cloud providers.

Williams noted that Internet computers will be key to replacing centralized servers like Amazon Web Services (AWS) and said:

โ€œWe want people to replace those centralized systems with container smart contracts on the internet computer. It's like an evolution of Dao technology, so everything is safe, secure, decentralized and autonomous. We want to see these centralized Amazon web services replaced by the internet computer.โ€

Williams went on to discuss the possibilities that ICP can open up for the world of blockchain. He pointed out that small countries and projects will not have to build wallets and can simply integrate an Internet computer with the bitcoin network to initiate transactions. He explained that the Internet "computer smart contracts can create Bitcoin addresses, receive and send Bitcoin while hiding the intricacies of UTX duties."

While discussing the computer aspects of the Internet and how they would differ from traditional architecture, William noted that smart contracts have the potential to "eat software," suggesting that computer smart contracts have the potential to replace things like servers. web, Kubernetes, databases, and many other traditional IT stacks today.

DFINITY Foundation is a non-profit science and technology organization and a major contributor to the Internet Computer Blockchain. The foundation recently Announced the $5 million decentralized artificial intelligence (DeAI) grant to support projects leveraging AI in ICP.
