The Ironmace development team received a cease and desist letter and a DMCA takedown order just before their Dark and Darker playtest went live in March. Despite this, the team went ahead with another playtest, conducted via torrents that are available on the game's Discord server. Playtest will be open until April 19.
The team promises to get ahead despite legal obstacles
Ironmace has assured his fans in his Discord server message that they are working tirelessly to continue developing Dark and Darker despite his legal issues with Nexon, his former employer where half of the game's developers used to work. Dark and Darker was removed from Steam and soon became the subject of a legal battle between the two companies as Korean officials searched Ironmace's offices for stolen codes and Nexon assets. Ironmace claimed that nothing was found.
Fans work to ensure the game's final release
The release of Dark and Darker might be in jeopardy, but despite this, fans of the game continue to support it. One enthusiast has even rebuilt the game into Fortnite. Additionally, one of Ironmace's developers launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the company's legal needs, raising $46,000 in less than an hour before being pulled.
