Journalist apologises for โ€˜insultingโ€™ Adele and feels he โ€˜deservesโ€™ the abuse

The Australian journalist who told infamous Adele he had not heard her new album 30, While interviewing her about said new album, she apologized on the air after receiving a torrent of insults.

Channel 7 reporter Matt Doran aired on Friday for the morning show Sunrise, where he said he wanted to address and apologize for the situation.

'This is a story that has unleashed a torrent of abuse and ridicule from around the world'he said, but added:' Most of this savage I deserve and totally own. '

He then apologized to Adele and her fans, saying that he had 'insulted' her.

"I would never have knowingly disrespected you by deliberately not listening to your work," he addressed the singer directly. 'Very sorry.'

Matt also apologized to Adele's Australian fans and Channel 7 audience that they would miss the interview "because of my mistake."

He explained that, 'hand on my heart', he missed the email where Sony had sent him a link to Adele's new album, and assumed that they would not have shared his new music as it was 'the most precious secret in the industry'.

Matt added, "It's the most important email I've ever missed."

The distinguished journalist said that the interview was going to be one of the "highlights of my career", but accepted that he made a "terrible mistake".

Matt had traveled from Australia to London to interview the Easy On Me singer as part of a $ 1 million (ยฃ 540,000) deal between his channel, Sony Pictures and CBS.

However, after Matt revealed to Adele during the interview that he hadn't listened to the album, Sony banned Channel 7 from broadcasting footage of the interview.

Rumors also circulated that the Chasing Pavements singer withdrew in protest, however Matt denied this in his apology.

"Adele didn't leave, they worked overtime," she said, and during the 29 minutes they were together she "was deep, funny, raw and honest."
