After months of preparation, today the first public hearing of the Select committee to investigate the January 6 attack on the US Capitol.. The bipartisan panel will hear from four law enforcement officers, two from US Capitol The police and two from the Washington Metropolitan Police Department will all testify "in a personal capacity" about "the law enforcement experience" that day.
The panel continues its work despite the refusal of Republican leader Kevin McCarthy to nominate a list of representatives for the seats assigned to his party after Nancy pelosi turned down two of its initial nominees, the hard-liners Jim Banks and Jim Jordan. At a press conference this morning, McCarthy and other Republicans have dismissed the committee as a "sham" and complained that Pelosi is using it to further her own narrative.
