Love Island: Kazโ€™s family issue statement after โ€œvulgar racist abuseโ€

"Always remember #BeKind."

Kaz Kamwi's friends and family have issued a statement after being exposed to "vulgar racist abuse".

The Love Island contestant's Instagram account is currently being managed by her friends and family, who have said they received a torrent of abuse after last night's episode.

"Good morning guys, Kaz's family and friends here," they said. "We understand that many of you love to watch the show and that people will have different opinions.

"However, this does not excuse the vulgar racist abuse we have been receiving on your account. Please always remember #BeKind."

The most recent installment of the show saw Tyler tell Kaz that he still had feelings for her. Kaz responded by saying that there may still be a slim chance that she and Tyler will get back together, before informing Matthew, who she is currently paired with.

Matthew called Kaz to chat and expressed disappointment that she hadn't come to him first, even though it was Tyler who called Kaz to chat, not the other way around.

This is not the first time that a contestant this year has been abused online. In the first week of the show, the producers were forced to issue a statement urging fans think before posting after Chloe Burrows' family spoke out about the death threats she received.

"We hate performing in such vile circumstances, but we've had enough, after just 3 episodes," they wrote.

"We all have thick skin, but the amount of trolling Chloe has been getting is absolutely disgusting. This morning we woke up to another DM (see story below), encouraging Chloe to commit suicide - there have been HUNDREDS. Didn't the deaths of Sophie, Mike and Caroline teach us anything? "

Following this, Love Island shared a post saying such bullying will not be tolerated and urged viewers to "think before posting."

"We want Love Island to be a positive experience for our entire cast and their friends and family," they said in a statement yesterday.

"Last night's episode generated strong reactions, but the posts from some viewers were totally unacceptable. We take these matters very seriously and will support cast members and their families in reporting such posts.

"Once again, we urge all of our viewers to think before posting, and remember that our islanders are people with feelings."
