Man sent to prison after subjecting charity shop worker to ‘torrent’ of racial abuse

A RACIST who subjected a charity shop worker to a “torrent” of abuse and threats has been sent to prison.

Alex Austin of Grand Parade in Brighton, was arrested after he continuously harassed a woman who worked at Age UK on London Road.

On Nov. 29 of last year at 11:45 a.m., Austin gave the woman a “racial barrage, loitering around the store and intimidating her by looking out the window.”

The woman took a clear photo of him which the police later used to identify him.

The 52-year-old man returned two hours later at 1:50 pm and continued to racially abuse and threaten the woman.

On January 7 of this year, Austin was arrested for violating a court order and also on suspicion of aggravated racial harassment. He was sentenced at Brighton Magistrates Court on Friday 14th January.

Austin was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison and received a 12-month restraining order prohibiting him from entering the London Road store.
