mijoda dajomi turns headwear into rainwater collection tool to tackle freshwater scarcity

Make a fashion statement while protecting the environment.

Torrent Guardian, the first prototype of Mijoda Dajomi's master collection Daughters of Rain, merges fashion environmentally conscious statement. Anticipating a future in which a pressing water crisis will loom large, the project sees hats evolving to function as a rainwater collection tool. Through fashion, the designer addresses the urgent need to conserve our resources by harnessing rainwater and at the same time points out the need to maintain style. In this way, this innovative hat can capture up to 5 liters of rain while worn.

Somewhat dystopian in style, the work is a tool to combat the anticipated shortage of fresh water by taking advantage of rainwater, highlighting its importance as a sustainable and integral resource. 'In my vision of our future, the scarcity of fresh water will be so pronounced that rain will become a precious symbol of precious fresh water. Therefore, I imagine that rain will become extremely valuable to us. โ€œIt will be so precious that every time it falls, we will all gather outside to capture every drop, in every way possible, including through what we wear on our bodies.โ€ muses designer Miyoda Dayomi.
