NASCAR is now reviewing a deal made last week between driver Brandon Brown and the cryptocurrency meme coin that bears his name, LGBcoin, which stands for the viral meme "Let's Go Brandon."
"According to Max Marcucci, a spokesman for Brown's team, NASCAR gave the team written approval on the sponsorship and paint scheme late last year and said the team went through the usual sponsorship approval process," CNN reported. "Marcucci said NASCAR called after the announcement and acknowledged to the team that it had received approval and 'apologized for any confusion and miscommunication,' but said the deal" needs to be reviewed at a higher level. "
A NASCAR spokesperson told Motersport.com that Brown's team "jumped the gun" by announcing the partnership before NASCAR had a chance to review it.

In a statement provided by Marcucci, Brandonbilt Motorsports received sponsor approval from a NASCAR Racing Operations officer on December 26.
According to the statement, the association's approval was "unequivocal", as an initial part of the official's email read "The sponsors are approved ..."
The statement acknowledged that the NASCAR official offered comments on a minor change to the graphic design "to ensure legibility on the track at 170 mph."

The tagline began in October at a NASCAR race at the Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama when NBC Sports reporter Kelli Stavast was interviewing driver Brandon Brown after he won the race.
While Stavast interviewed Brown, chants of "F *** Joe Biden" erupted in the stands, but Stavast claimed they were chanting "Come on Brandon."
The catchphrase "Let's Go, Brandon" has since become code for "F *** Joe Biden" and is commonly used at sporting events and various other venues.
