NCLT Delays Fresh Auction For Reliance Capital

The National Company Law Court (NCLT) on Wednesday asked Reliance Capital's lenders to delay the second auction, which was scheduled for January 19-23, the PTI news agency reported.

The delay occurs because the NCLT was unable to complete the hearing of the arguments of both parties.

The Torrent Group, which had won the bid in the first round of the auction, had moved NCLT Mumbai bank on January 12 to seek a stay on the lenders' proposal for the "challenge mechanism."

This challenge mechanism was scheduled for January 19.

The report stated that the court led by Judge Shyam Babu Gautam and Judge Pradeep Narhari Deshmukh extended the date until the hearing of all parties is complete.

Ravi Kadam, representing the administrator, said that the Creditors' Committee (CoC) has the right to request new resolution plans.

Kapil Sibal, representing the CoC, told the court that there might still be no plans to file with the NCLT, even after a new auction.

Reliance Capital has consolidated debt of around Rs 40,000 crore.
