HONOLULU โ The Hawaii State Department of Health (DOH) Emergency Medical Services and Injury Prevention System Branch (EMSIPSB) has awarded contracts for ground ambulance services on Kauai.`I and Maui to International Life Support, Inc., which is widely recognized as American Medical Response (AMR).
The initial award notice to AMR was issued on May 23, 2024. Falck Northwest Corporation (Falck), an unsuccessful applicant for the contract, submitted protest notices to EMSIPSB, also known as the Purchasing Agency. On June 21, 2024, Dr. Kenneth Fink, Director of DOHalso known as the Head of Procurement Agency (HOPA), issued its decision to settle the protests. The new contracts with AMR will come into effect on January 1, 2025.
