NFT project blocks Chinese Twitter comments citing the need for โ€˜North American expansionโ€™

According to a Twitter mail Dated Dec. 11, SHHAN, creator of the Mimic Shhans black cat non-fungible token (NFT) collection, explained to users why it was blocking posts on community social pages written in Chinese. The move came after users condemned the new measures as discriminatory. According to SHHAN, which is based in South Korea but created a post in Chinese to specifically address the issue:

"It's because I previously announced on Twitter and Discord that my team is trying to break into the North American market. Therefore, I recommended everyone use English when replying to Twitter posts. Why do this? Because when I spoke to North American headlines [of our NFTs]They told us that the comments on Mimic's Twitter page are almost exclusively in Chinese, so it was very difficult for them to feel the culture of the Mimic community."

SHHAN explained that he previously posted on the Discord community advising users to speak English, but that "the vast majority of people didn't seem to follow him." The artist then reiterated that he considered the European and North American consumer markets vital to the upcoming Shhan Metaverse, dubbed "Shhanverse," and hoped that users would "turn to the more internationalized English language to talk about the project." .

Launched in October, Mimic Shhans features NFTs of โ€œplayful black catsโ€ dressed in various costumes and is minted on the Ethereum blockchain. SHHAN revealed that the collection is very popular in China, with the vast majority of NFT holders in the country. The project currently has 2,001 holders on OpenSea with 285 Ether (ETH) in traded volume since its inception.
