Pakistan's Power Minister Stresses Early Completion Of Dam Projects โ€“ WE News

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Laghari on Wednesday held a meeting on hill torrents and Murunj Dam project.

MNAs Sardar Shamshir Khan Mazari, Sardar Abdul Qadir Khosa, Sardar Amar Awais Khan Leghari, MPA Sardar Ahmad Khan Leghari, Sardar Ali Mansoor Khan Leghari as well as officials of NESPAK and Irrigation Department participated in the meeting.

In the meeting, the federal minister gave directions for early completion of the ongoing feasibility study for construction of multiple small dams on the drainages of hill torrents at Dera Ghazi Khan, Taunsa and Rajanpur.

The minister, while instructing the authorities, said all stakeholders should be included in the consultation process.

He expressed his determination to start construction work soon by securing financing for all projects.

Significant project impacts

The meeting agreed that the projects would bring about an agricultural and economic revolution in the region and significantly reduce poverty.
