Paul Pogba dragged off down tunnel after late West Ham drama

Manchester United star Paul Pogba had to be dragged down the tunnel on Sunday when he reacted to a torrent of insults from West Ham fans.

The party that United won 2-1 at London Stadium produced a thrilling ending and left some Hammers fans furious.

Mark Noble came off the bench to miss a penalty in injury time. Noble club captain, West Ham's Mr Reliable from the spot, was dispatched by coach David Moyes to take the penalty after Luke Shaw drove into the area.

The longtime midfielder, who retires at the end of the season, had not missed a penalty since December 2016, but was denied a sentimental goal by United goalkeeper David De Gea.

In a blow to West Ham and Moyes, who tried to re-sign Jesse Lingard over the summer, the England forward huddled in what turned out to be the winner with two minutes remaining.

Cristiano Ronaldo had previously scored his fourth goal in three games since returning to United, nullifying Said Benrahma's first deflected goal for the hosts.

It was a tough result for West Ham fans. And some of them took out their fury at Pogba when hers disappeared down the tunnel full time.

Pogba, who had been replaced by Lingard in the 73rd minute, reacted to the taunts of the local fans. But as the verbal abuse continued, first team coach and former West Ham star Michael Carrick dragged Pogba down the tunnel.

It meant the French World Cup winner avoided getting into trouble with the FA.

Was it Noble de Moyes' decision?

Meanwhile, expert Danny Murphy believes that the decision to bring in Noble to shoot the penalty with his first touch was not Moyes'.

โ€œIt was weird and it creates more pressure for receiver Mark Noble. He has barely played a minute in the Premier League all season.

โ€œIf you really look at the footage when Noble shows up after Moyes made the decision. Moyes smiles wryly, turns around and doesn't look. I think someone else has put it (the idea) into their head. Knowing Moyes over the years and how he thinks, he's a down-to-earth guy and has done a brilliant job.

โ€œI think someone has got into his head, and I don't mean Noble, but another member of staff. And you accept it and you have to support it. I think they put it on him.

โ€œHe is not looking, he is looking at the sky. You don't do that if you are completely sure of your decision, โ€Murphy told talkSPORT.
