NYCFC has at least one high-profile supporter who bets on the club in the MLS Cup.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola expressed his best wishes to NYCFC at his press conference leading up to Friday, which took place on the eve of the MLS championship game. NYCFC and Man City are part of the City Football Group family, and the Premier League team is the crown jewel in the global network of clubs under the group-owned umbrella.
Guardiola has a couple of more intimate ties to NYCFC, however, with his former right-hand man, Domรจnec Torrent, the former manager of the club. Guardiola also spent his sabbatical between his stints at Barcelona and Bayern Munich living in New York. It's no wonder, then, that he's fighting for NYCFC in Saturday's meeting with Portland Timbers in Providence Park.
