PM Modi Launches Torrent Powerโ€™s Rs 25,000 Crore Investment in UP

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated four major projects Torrent Power in Uttar Pradesh, representing a significant investment of approximately Rs 25,000 million. These projects, signed through a Memorandum of Understanding during the UP Global Investor Summit 2023, are expected to create both direct and indirect employment opportunities for around 8,000 people in the state. The groundbreaking ceremony was part of the country's largest Groundbreaking Ceremony (GBC) 4.0 held in Lucknow where Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone of over 14,000 projects spanning various sectors.

Torrent Power's four projects include two pumped storage hydropower projects with a combined capacity of 4,150 MW in Sonbhadra district, a 150 MW solar power plant in Lalitpur district (Bundelkhand region) and a pilot plant. green hydrogen production facility in Gorakhpur. The green hydrogen produced here will be mixed with the gas distribution network that Torrent Gas is developing.

The event took place in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. Torrent Power, an integrated power company of the Rs 37,600 crore Torrent Group, is a major player in the Indian power sector, engaged in generation, transmission and distribution across the power value chain.
