Polkadot community PolkaWorld halts operations after failed funding bid

Polkadot community PolkaWorld has announced that it has stopped operations after the community's proposal to obtain funding from the Polkadot treasury was rejected. The organization raised several concerns about the project's treasury management and made several claims in a recent announcement.

In a post published on PolkaWorld's official X (formerly Twitter) account, the organization reclaimed that treasury management under Polkadot's new open governance platform called โ€œOpenGovโ€ is impacting long-term contributors to the Polkadot ecosystem. According to PolkaWorld, many organizations are being rejected by the treasury and are leaving the Polkadot ecosystem.

The organization noted that in the previous government system there was a council elected by Polkadot (SPOT) Headlines. According to PolkaWorld, the council members were experts in certain areas and knew how to evaluate proposals. PolkaWorld believes this should be integrated into the current OpenGov system, where governance is decided directly by token holders.

Meanwhile, Markian Ivanichok, founder of the Brushfam platform, which onboards companies to Polkadot, has announced that the project leaves Polkadot on an more difficult to obtain financing.

Within the thread, Ivanichok also reclaimed that it was impossible to get your work appreciated in an ecosystem that "doesn't care about users, business practices, and the marketing of your product."

Polkadot's OpenGov system was launched earlier this year to give each token holder a say in shaping the platform. With this, network governance is made directly by the owners of the DOT token. They can actively participate in a voting process to vote on proposals aimed at making changes to their ecosystem.
