A group of patrons were horrified after a naked couple walked into a Somerset pub, and the staff were happy to serve them.

Naturalists Neil Cox and Danielle Quiggan visited The Railway, in Burnham-on-Sea, near Bristol, on Friday for a nude pint.

That same night, the couple took a nude walk around Harborside, with no one seeming to question them.

Some customers in the pub were puzzled by the staff's decision to serve them, despite the fact that they were naked.

The pub's TripAdvisor page has been the subject of a torrent of negative reviews, with one patron saying a naked man was "doing helicopters while his other half cheered him on".

The review reads: "I just went out for a quick drink and came across a stark naked man doing helicopters while his other half cheered him on.

"They then sat down to eat, luckily the establishment covered the seats with rubbish bags first. Overall a really weird place to allow this sort of thing, think before you take the kids there!"

Another review from another irate customer said: "We found the food and staff pleading. Went for a second time last night, were shocked to see a naked couple arrive and be served.

"We were concerned as there were families and young children there. I overheard a customer mention this to the staff. As other reviewers have stated, the staff seemed unconcerned. We won't be back."

A third said: "Ghastly. If you want to go to a family pub with average food and staff serving a naked man with a naked woman then this is for you. Took parents away. Outraged."

Several other patrons were irate that the pub was overrun with families and children, although the manager insisted that "we are definitely a family pub".

He continued: "[We are] proud to be inclusive for all, I myself have three young children and I don't see any problem, we look forward to your next visit."

The manager of The Railway Inn also defended his staff members' decision to allow the naturalists in, whom he said were a "lovely couple".

The manager replied: "We were contacted by a lovely couple who happened to be naturists and politely asked if they would be allowed in.

"We checked the laws and regulations and there was no reason to say no, as a parent with small children I didn't see any problems or threats, luckily most of the customers were fine and curious.

It's a shame to let this put you off our great food, customer service or hard working staff."
