Sara Wroblewski reports Boston received almost two inches of rain from tonight's storm, more than storm drains and local roads could handle in a short amount of time. Some trees collapsed after being struck by lightning.
The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for the Boston area, warning: Turn around, don't drown, move to higher ground, etc., to avoid the type of flooding that occurred. close to chelsea high schoolthroughout Quincy Coast Drive and at the Rutherford Avenue underpass in Charlestown, which the city closed due to all the water.
Spring Street across from the West Roxbury Star Market was flooded, though it floods almost as much as Morrissey Boulevard in Dorchester, so no one was surprised.
