Rarible integrates with Tezos blockchain and launches own NFT collection

Non-fungible token market (NFT) Rarible officially launched its integration with the Tezos proof-of-stake blockchain on Wednesday. This collaboration will allow Rarible to introduce Tezos NFTs to its market and support secondary sales of Tezos projects live, while allowing users to create low-cost NFTs.

Rarible's integration with Tezos marks the third layer of a blockchain supported by the platform, along with Ethereum and Flow, Dapper Labs' blockchain network that powers NBA Top Shot. In Rarible's effort to build a multi-chain platform to consolidate the NFT space, the integrations with Solana and Polygon are as follows, according to Rarible CEO Alexei Falin, who told Cointelegraph:

โ€œRarible strongly believes that the future of NFT is cross-chain and that interoperability is the key to a successful and optimized NFT ecosystem. We have seen many alternative blockchains gain traction in the NFT space for their unique offerings, specifically Tezos for its low costs and energy efficient minting process through proof-of-stake validation. The integration will be implemented in two phases, according to the company. Users can now mint, buy and sell new Tezos NFTs, as well as trade on the secondary market, starting with in-game metaverse collectibles called digits from the legacy gaming organization Ubisoft. Rarible then plans to mint new collections through custom contracts and set royalties for imported collections that previously existed on Tezos.

Rarible and Tezos have also released an inaugural NFT collection, titled Blazing Futures, curated by Diane Drubay, founder of We Are Museums and creator of NFTs at Hic Et Nunc. The Blazing Futures release features exclusive Rarible work from 10 Tezos-based artists.

Falin added that he expects "Rarible users to benefit from an improved experience in our market, while enjoying exposure to a broader range of NFT projects that exist within the strong Tezos network."

Integration was made possible through Rarible Protocol, the community-governed cross-chain open source NFT protocol that Rarible.com runs on.
